IlluminaTED 2021

Youth are filled with curious, innovative, brilliant and thoughtful ideas. There is a significant impact when youth are not only asked about their passions and perspectives, but when they work to develop and share those ideas to a larger audience. The Encounters TEDEd Conference is an annual conference created for youth by youth. We create a space for youth to engage with new ideas and inspire them to take action, think creatively about their future and navigate rapid change. To date we have served over 1000 students and established 10 community partners. We aspire to improve each year, learning from experience and building on it. Our theme this year was Making Waves - a metaphor about our ideas, passions and perspectives, how we inform them and choose to take action. The things we say and do leave ripples into the unfathomable future. We’re all individual waves but also part of the ocean. Today we ask how we can invoke wonder, learn and grow, understand the world around us and amplify our voices in public spaces, make waves and improve the quality of life for youth in our local and global communities? #encountersteded –––––––––– Song: Best Day of My Life Artist: American Authors
